Grendel's Mother
The castle footage for this video was shot in the summer of 2006 at the ruined castle of Dívčí Kámen, near Český Krumlov, in the southern Czech Republic. In the unrelated words of John Darnielle, the original author and performer of this song, "I get a particular feeling /
looking at castles in the countryside, /
don't bother to call."

Preterconscious
Shot in early 2005. Includes footage from a variety of public domain anti-drug films, available from the Prelinger Archives. We particularly recommend 1969's Drug Abuse: the Chemical Tomb (the source of many of the song's vocal samples) for the inexplicable weirdness of it all.
